Reports from the field 01

Frau Fiber recieved this email, following a lecture she gave Michener Museum of Art, in Doyelstown PA.

Torn Awning Project, by Diane Morgan.

After attending a gallery talk by Frau Fiber, I was inspired to mend my canvas awning rather then replace it.  This awning has been in loyal service for ten years, and each summer season it goes through a rigorous bleaching  and scrubbing to remove the mold from the following season.  With all this all this cleaning, the seams had began to split.  So I decided to mend it.  Using heavy rug thread, I sat on the floor and stitch by stitch followed the seam line replacing all the missing thread.  In the end it looks as good as new.  One more year, one less purchase.  IMG_5267
