I arrived to the Arctic Circle, with some mending to do.  This small cabin, reminded me of Henry David Thoreau, and his time spent on Waldon pond.

My research took me to WeiBenfels, a former industrial boom town for shoe manufacturing.  Now much like apparel related towns in the North East, their are many empty buildings, awaiting a new life.

However, I was impressed with the Shoe Museum, dedicated to the towns history of shoe production, and a great collection of shoes from around the world!

One morning during my stay in Berlin, My host Merete, set up her sewing machine to do some mending.  I was especially delighted to see this heart shaped mend, she did in the crotch of her jeans.  These problem areas truly can be made playful!
